Suki’s most recent work is
a series of three types of large-scale sculptural pieces.
There are standing or hanging totems and
shallow bowls or birdbaths balanced
on three long legs and plaques. Made of giant hand
formed clay “beads” and
supported on strong concealed metal armatures, the
totems and birdbaths work well in both interior and
garden spaces. Also appropriate for either indoor
or outdoor placement, the clay plaques or tiles are
designed to be hung on walls in groups as a series
or as individual pieces. For these pieces, Suki uses
glaze sparingly allowing the natural colors of the
clays to show to advantage. Suki
produces new tableware and
sculptural work throughout the year, which is exhibited
in national trade
shows and open studios. |
